The effect of printing edge defects on the electrodynamic characteristics of the patch antennas

Abstract

The influence of repeatability and random edge defects on the frequency dependence of parameter S11 characteristics of a square patch antenna is considered. A certain maximum size of the edge defect, which does not affect its characteristics, is defined. By analogy with a round patch-antenna, it is shown that the dependence of the parameter S11 characteristics on the inverse radius of curvature is linear making it relatively easy to estimate the influence of conformal antenna bending radius on the characteristics.
